This interview with Kylesa was done in the hallway at the Palladium while Premonitions of War was playing. It was a pretty good interview that covers things like politics and Star Wars.

PL: Start by introducing yourselves.

LP: I'm Laura and I play guitar.

CB: I'm Cory and I play bass.

PL: How did you set go? I ended up missing it today because I had to work.

LP: It went pretty good, I think. Its hard to tell from the stage how it sounds in the audience, but I think we went over well.

PL: Was it weird playing at 3:30 in the afternoon?

LP: Yeah, we were the second band. Its weird playing rock and roll in the middle of the day.

CB: The tour that we're on right now-a lot of the shows we've played have been late at night. This is much earlier than when we usually go on.

PL: Do you try and plan tours around festivals like this?

LP: It just happens. Last Spring, we did a whole bunch of fests, but it just kind of ended up that way. It wasn't planned.

CB: We toured around a lot.

LP: We played all different kinds of fests. We played some punk rock fests and then we played a stoner rock fest.

PL: Do you miss any important events while you're on tour?

LP: No. I guess the most important thing we missed was voting, and none of us got our absentee ballots in time. We were in Denver when the elections took place.

PL: I've been listening to a lot of talk radio, and most of the stuff has been so one sided (either so far to the right or left)-there's pretty much a white side and a black side. Does it seem like there is a huge political divide going on right now? Do you think its becoming a new trend? Do you think its ever gonna go away?

LP: I think things are gonna get a lot worse before they get better. I think we are in a really scary situation right now. Even the Democrats though, they're not as one sided as you think. John Kerry was pretty middle of the road.

PL: I mean how everyone says that the other side is so wrong.

LP: Its really black and white, which is scary. There are a lot of "Pro Bush" people who thought everything he said was right. There's no middle ground. Its fucking scary.

CP: There was definitely a big divide before the election. We were on tour a month or two prior, and it was definitely pretty scary. We were in a lot of cities, and there were more people voting Republican. The midwest was all "Bush or nothing, Bush or nothing." It was a scary thing.

LP: The entire South voted for Bush, which is fucking bullshit. I think the election was rigged.

PL: I don't care who the President is, I just want it to be someone who I agree with on some things.

LP: It seems like politicans just say whatever the public wants so they get elected. People were saying to Bush that he might want to go on a religious kick, and he did, and it worked for him. His advisors had told him not to go that way, he wouldn't have. This is Brandon, by the way. He plays drums.

PL: What was your favorite childhood movie?

LP: Star Wars-The Empire Strikes Back.

CB: The Goonies.

BB: The Neverending Story.

LP: Oh---The Neverending Story; that was a great one.

PL: Are you excited about the new Star Wars?

LP: Dude, I don't know. The first two new episodes sucked. I'm gonna go see it, but I'm skeptical. Whatever, I'm gonna go see it anyway.

CB: When the first new one came out, people were waiting in line for it.

LP: I don't know. I was really anticipating Episode 1. I saw that and thought it sucked, other than the cool visuals.

PL: I just want to see how he becomes Darth Vader.

LP: Yeah, this is supposed to be the darkest one.

PL: A girl I work with has a whole bunch of friends that are working on it. They said that he kills everybody.

LP: Really? I bet it'll be interesting.

PL: The preview does look pretty good.

PL: Whats a little known fact about Georgia?

LP: We're the Peach State. Coca-Cola is based in Atlanta. Its a big ghetto.

CB: Yeah, it is so ghetto. I can say this because I'm not from Georgia. I thought Georgia was all these good old white boys riding around, and when I moved there, it was the exact opposite. There were low riders and ghettos.

LP: Its alright, man. There are some really pretty oak trees.

CB: And alligators.

PL: Name one album, besides your own, that you think all kids should have in their collection.

CB: Fugazi-Repeater.

LP: Nausea-Extinction. I would also say Metallica-Ride the Lightning.

BB: Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden).

PL: Do you have any final comments?

LP: Um...no. Thank you. Don't vote Republican.

PL: I'd still say vote for whoever is better.

LP: Yeah, it really doesn't matter about the party; you're right. Its kind of like the lesser of two evils.
