Motion City Soundtrack

Motion City Soundtrack are a pretty damn popular band. They are catchy as hell, and their songs are a bunch of fun to listen to. Most people reading this have heard this band already, but they're worth a check out if you haven't heard them and enjoy sugary keyboard driven pop punk. This interview went down with moogist Jesse Johnson on August 6, 2006 at the Warped Tour in New Jersey..

PL: State something interesting about your band.
MCS: I don't know. We live in two parts of the country. Some of the guys live in Virginia and some live in Minneapolis.

PL: Do you ever fear that you forgot something before leaving for tour?
MCS: Yeah, we've done it before. We forgot passports, guitars, cases for guitars to fly with. We forget things all the time.

PL: How do you think your band would be different if there was no internet.
MCS: I don't think we would have made it to where we are. The internet is the way our label got to us. Its also the catalyst to getting close to the fans we have as well. I don't think we'd be standing here talking.

PL: If you were exiled to a desert island and could only bring one song with you, which would it be and why?
MCS: Probably "Where is My Mind" by The Pixies.

PL: Whats a little known fact about Epitaph Records?
MCS: I don't know. I don't know a little known fact about Epitaph Records.
PL: Whats a little known fact about Minneapolis?
MCS: That its actually a big city, I guess.

PL: Whats one movie everyone should see?
MCS: "The City of Lost Children." Its a French film. Its great.

PL: Name one album, besides your own, that you think all kids should have in their collection.
MCS: I really think The Pixies Surfer Rosa is just an all time great record. Its influenced a lot of musicians that most of these kids today probably listen to.

PL: Is this the quickest interview you've ever done?
MCS: No, no. I just did a quicker one.
PL: Oh man.
MCS: It was like three questions. I'm a fast question answerer.
