Palehorse
I sent an interview to Palehorse many months ago, but never got a response. I lost the original questions, so I wrote these ones and sent it again. Their bassist, Dave, sent these questions back a few hours later. Amongst the Flock is a damn good metallic hardcore album on Bridge 9 that is worth checking out.
1. State something interesting about yourself.
I run a reptile rescue and live in a basement along with 20-some-odd snakes, lizards and an alligator.
2. Do you think people are expecting a new Palehorse album soon?
I like to think they are, but realistically I doubt people are too concerned with it. Our last full-length came out less than a year ago and we've done a decent amount of touring in the US and Europe, and will continue to do so. We still have a lot of virgin ground to cover, and hopefully we'll be able to hit those towns, areas, and countries that we haven't yet before we record anything more.
3. How long does it take to get used to your bandmates on tour?
Eh, at this point we know what to expect from each other so we don't really need to feel each other out. Truth be told, Palehorse is like a bizarre family. We love and hate each other to different degrees day by day. Sometimes it's hell being in the same room as each other and when we're not on tour and don't see each other for a bit I start to miss them. It's gay as shit.
4. Red Sox or Yankees?
Phillies
5. Do you think people feel safe at shows? Should they?
Depends what people you're talking about, where the show is at and how you define "safe". On the whole, no one should ever be somewhere where they do not feel safe, but that's what makes hardcore provocative. The rules are no rules. If I wanted to have a set of guidelines behind what I do with my time I'd probably be playing trombone in the college band preparing for my future. That's the thing though, I don't want to do that and I don't give a fuck about my future, so I spend my time doing things that defy the laws of modern life. All this doesn't negate the fact that I enjoy having fun and just being around people of similar interest with hardcore. I like looking out for kids younger than me and showing people a good time with the scene; however, I don't feel hardcore should be watered down for anybody. That's gay.
6. Whats a little known fact about Connecticut?
I live in Pennsylvania, so my knowledge of CT is fairly limited. I know that there are a lot of haunted towns/areas in CT. Dave Lepage, the other guitarist in Palehorse, told me that there is some stone wall somewhere in CT that bleeds. He's not smart and probably making that up but whatever. I can give you a little known fact about PA and say that Philly was the fattest city in America for a few years in a row, but then Houston stole the title I think. Lame.
7. Whats one movie everyone should see?
Barbershop. And Barbershop 2.
8. Name one album, besides your own, that you think all kids should have in their collection.
Raised fist - Dedication
9. Final comments...
Real life sucks. Hardcore is better.
