While ‘Force Awakens’ gave fans many moments to dissect, among the most crucial was the meeting between Han Solo and his fallen son, Kylo Ren, on that the desolate bridge. It was a bittersweet family reunion, one that ended in death for Han Solo, but Abrams confirms (in case there was any doubt) that Kylo Ren was initially swayed by Han Solo, before finally committing to the dark side.

“Kylo Ren in this moment is actually being convinced to walk away from this,” Abrams says in the commentary, but ultimately, “Deep down, he’s gone too far.”

The new home-video edition of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” arrives internationally on October 31st, and stateside on November 15th.
