Jared Leto Says "A Lot Of Scenes" Were Cut From 'Suicide Squad,' Patty Jenkins Declares The Film "Great"

It feels like March all over again. As “Suicide Squad” gears up to open this weekend, the past few days have been eerily reminiscent of the lead-up to “Batman v  Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” with a wave of bad reviews (here’s ours), fanboys freaking out, and Warner Bros. wondering what the hell happened (though, they likely already have some idea). At the very least, it seems there was a good share of behind-the-scenes second-guessing during the making of the movie, and as we learned recently, at one point there were two different versions of “Suicide Squad” being tested. The result you’ll see in theaters this weekend is apparently a mutually agreed upon compromise between the director and studio, but it seems the process in putting it together left some material on the cutting room floor, including scenes with the Jared Leto‘s Joker.

“There are a lot of scenes that didn’t make it to the final film, hopefully they will see the light of day. Who knows,” he told Telestar (via Heroic Hollywood).

It’ll certainly be interesting to learn how “Suicide Squad” changed shape as it went from its original incarnation, through the reshoots, the editing process, and into the finished movie. Certainly, with WB pushing for something lighter in tone, I can only imagine that darker sequences might’ve been left behind.

Meanwhile, opinions and feelings about the movie aren’t going to stop flying around the internet anytime soon, and the latest person to step into the mix surely has no vested interest in all of this — “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to share her feelings on David Ayer‘s picture, and you might be surprised to learn, she liked it!

Finally, one opinion that’s free from any conflict of interest.

“Suicide Squad” opens tomorrow.
