‘The Defenders’ Trailer: Jessica Jones And Company Are Back

They’re the Avengers of the Netflix Marvel world. Where the regular Avengers save the world from otherworldly threats, the Defenders save a small part of New York City from ninjas, normally by fighting them in tight hallways. With the release date fast approaching, Marvel and Netflix have released the second trailer for “The Defenders,” and it looks like all that waiting by the fans is going to pay off.

We all loved watching “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Luke Cage,” and we tolerated season 1 of “Iron Fist,” so now we get the chance to watch all the characters join together to face a common enemy. No, it’s not Loki or Thanos. It’s Sigourney Weaver. In the newest trailer, viewers learn more about the plot of the upcoming series, and see just how Sigourney Weaver will be a formidable threat to the heroic team. While her true motivations are still a mystery, we do know there are going to be lots of ninjas involved. As with the rest of the Netflix/Marvel series, “The Defenders” will feature plenty of hand-to-hand combat, snarky dialogue, and dimly lit sets. In other words, it should be just want fans want.

Unlike the other series, “The Defenders” is shortening it’s run from the normal 13-episode run to a tight 8 episodes. Hopefully, this means that the worst part of the other series, the meandering episodes where you keep checking your watch, will be eliminated and it’ll be a fast-paced affair. “The Defenders” stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones as the titular team. The series also brings in some of the other characters that fans have come to love like Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, and Elodie Yung’s Elektra. “The Defenders” is led by producers Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who were co-showrunners on the second season of “Daredevil.”

“The Defenders” is set to premiere on Netflix on August 18.
