John C. Reilly's Crazy Beard & More Revealed In Great New Images From 'Kong: Skull Island'

Kong: Skull Island” is coming, and one of cinema’s greatest monsters will in the midst of an all new battle. However, one decision that director Jordan Vogt-Roberts made was that the giant ape was not going to face off against dinosaurs. Instead, the filmmaker and his team created a whole new set of original creatures that King Kong will rumble with, and they have some fascinating inspirations behind their design.

[Hayao] Miyazaki and ‘Princess Mononoke‘ and in a weird way Pokemon were odd reference points. Because I wanted these things to have a spirituality to them and an essence to them, and I wanted all of them to simultaneously be gorgeous and terrifying,” Vogt-Roberts told SFX.

We’ll see more of what they look like soon I’d imagine, but for now, these new images of the humans in the movie are more than enough. ‘Skull Island’ has been riding a pretty intense war movie vibe so far, and that really comes across here. So too does John C. Reilly’s beard.
