John Oliver & 'Saturday Night Live' Take On Harvey Weinstein

It’s Monday, and the biggest story in Hollywood remains (rightfully) Harvey Weinstein. The once powerful producer has been knocked down by a wave of allegations of abuse, assault, and rape which has led to the developing sale of The Weinstein Company, and his ousting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

However, as many have noted, the Weinstein is far from the only member of the Academy with a track record of atrocious and criminal treatment of women. As pointed out on “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” Mel Gibson, Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski are still currently Academy members (for those of you wondering about Woody Allen, he’s actually not a member), so there is still much work to be done. Meanwhile, “Saturday Night Live” took a more comedic angle on the situation — with mixed results — with a women’s roundtable discussion featuring Leslie Jones as Viola Davis, Cecily Strong as Marion Cotillard, and Kate McKinnon playing her character Debette Goldry.

This story is far from over, and it’s just as likely the late night crew will have plenty to work with in the days and weeks ahead.
