Dakota Johnson & Armie Hammer's Film From Director Babak Anvari Now Has A Title And Release Date

Safely “freed” from her commitments with the “Fifty Shades of Grey” series, Dakota Johnson has been making some very interesting career choices as of late. First, she has the highly-anticipated Luca Guadagnino remake of the horror classic “Suspiria” coming out later this year. Then, there’s a film from acclaimed director Babak Anvari, but unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about the film. That is, until now.

According to a report, and I have to stress that “report” might be a stretch, Dakota Johnson’s previously untitled Babak Anvari project is actually called “The Translation of Wounds.” Now, as we just mentioned, the source of this news is a bit suspect, but the news seems legit. Apparently, the film is based on the novella “The Visible Filth” by author Nathan Ballingrud and is being described as a horror-thriller.

And judging by the plot synopsis for the novella, it sounds like a film that Anvari and Johnson could hit out of the park:

When Will discovers a cell phone after a violent brawl his life descends into a nightmare. Affable, charismatic and a little shallow, he’s been skating across the surface of life in a state of carefully maintained contentment. He decides to keep the cell phone just until the owner returns and everything changes. Then the messages begin. Will’s discovered something unspeakable and it’s crawling slowly into the light.

“The Translation of Wounds” stars Johnson alongside Armie Hammer and Zazie Beetz. If that cast isn’t enough to pique your interest, then I don’t know what will. Hammer has been on fire lately, specifically with his incredible performance in “Call Me By Your Name.” Beetz, of course, has been killing it for the last couple years on Donald Glover’s series “Atlanta” and recently had a scene-stealing performance as Domino in “Deadpool 2.”

We also now know that “The Translation of Wounds” is set to be released on March 29, 2019.
