'Justice League' First Reactions: DC Assembles Uneven Superhero Movie

“…we’re hoping that people don’t think about how this movie was made when they go to see it, because these characters are bigger than any director, they’re bigger than any of us. We love and adore these characters,” Justice League” producer Deborah Snyder said this week. With the embargo on social media responses lifting today, the studio is likely also hoping that audiences are willing to roll with a movie that many are saying is wildly uneven.

Given that the project went through two directors — Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon — and extensive reshoots, it’s not a big surprise that the final product perhaps doesn’t quite cohere. What is notable is seeing many of the reactions on Twitter really using that 280 character limit to work out their feelings on the movie, and/or just write enough in a threaded response that it’s practically a review.

No matter what, “Justice League” is expected to open big next weekend, but the varying responses suggest that the legs of the movie might be shorter than usual for its kind.
