Kathleen Kennedy & Gareth Edwards Shoot Down Persistent 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Rumors

The reverberations from Star Wars Celebration Europe earlier this month are still being felt, as Disney has managed what few studios are ever able to do: turn around bad buzz into genuine excitement. Undergoing heavy reshoots this summer, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was perceived to be a potential disaster, an indication of Disney panicking at delivering a darker movie than “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and trying to course correct. And who knows, maybe that’s still the case, but the panel presentation and new featurette suggested that whatever was going on behind the scenes, the finished product wasn’t suffering.

And while a spoiler or two about the upcoming movie did manage to leak, for the most part there is still plenty under wraps about the ‘Rogue One,’ with persistent chatter about possible cameos. There have been persistent rumors that Alden Ehrenreich‘s young Han Solo was being dropped into the film, and an even wilder theory that Hayden Christensen‘s Anakin Skywalker would also somehow make an appearance. Well, you can count both of them out.

When asked by ExtraTV, both director Gareth Edwards and producer Kathleen Kennedy shot down the rumors without equivocation. And frankly, whatever happened or is happening with ‘Rogue One,’ it’s at least good to know Disney isn’t trying to fix things with inorganic fan service.
