Kiersey Clemons Reteams With 'Dope' Director Rick Famuyiwa And Takes Female Lead Of 'The Flash'

All it takes is a little bit of heat, and the right moves, for your Hollywood career to take off, and Kiersey Clemons seems to be making all the smart plays. The actress broke out in Sundance hit “Dope,” and her impressive turn saw Clemons called upon for everything from TV stints in “New Girl” and “Extant,” to a role in this summer’s “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and in the forthcoming horror redo “Flatliners.” And now she’s reteaming with “Dope” director Rick Famuyiwa as they both make the jump to the blockbuster realm.

Variety reports that Clemons is coming on board “The Flash” as the director’s top choice for the female lead. As always, details are under lock and key and no one is confirming anything, but it seems Clemons is poised to play Barry Allen’s journalist pal Iris West, played currently on the TV series “The Flash” by Candice Patton (remember, WB’s TV and movie worlds aren’t crossing over). At any rate, in many comics iterations there is a romance between the pair as well, and I’d assume that might be a factor here.

Production on the movie is expected to begin this year, and “The Flash,” led by Ezra Miller, is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2018.
