Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin Set To Return In ‘Daredevil’ Season 3

Last time we saw Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk was in a guest-starring role in the second season of Netflix and Marvel’sDaredevil” series. After being the big bad of season 1, Fisk was sent to jail and gone for most of the second season. However, it looks like Fisk, and thus D’Onofrio, are coming back stronger for the upcoming third season of the popular Netflix series.

According to a report from Deadline, D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role as Fisk, aka The Kingpin, in “Daredevil” season 3. For fans of the series, and comic books, this is exciting news. D’Onofrio’s portrayal of the villain has been one of the highlights of the Marvel/Netflix Universe. No word yet on the plot of the upcoming season, but if you look at what happened in season 2, as well as the end of “The Defenders,” there are rumors abound that the Netflix series could tackle the legendary “Born Again” comic book storyline from writer Frank Miller.

Included in the report about D’Onofrio is word on a showrunner change for the next iteration of “Daredevil.” Erik Oleson has been tapped to showrun the upcoming season. This marks the third different showrunner in as many seasons for the series. Steven DeKnight was the showrunner for season 1, followed by the team of Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez for season 2. Oleson is coming off of working as an Executive Producer and Writer for Amazon’sThe Man in the High Castle.” Before that, he flexed his superhero muscle as a Co-Executive Producer on CW’sArrow.”

As Netflix is prone to do, there’s no indication on when fans can expect the third season of “Daredevil.” However, there’s plenty of superheroes coming to Netflix in 2018. The streaming service has Marvel’s “Punisher” set to debut next month, followed by second seasons of “Luke Cage” and the critically acclaimed “Jessica Jones.” And yes, there’s also going to be a second season of “Iron Fist.” God help us all.
