Kristen Stewart Eyed For ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot

Kristen Stewart has spent years running away pretty hard from “Twilight,” the franchise that made her a star and the object of weirdly intense obsession from a devoted subset of fans. The actress has zeroed in on auteur driven projects and independent films, and largely stayed away from trying out another blockbuster project (with the exception of “Snow White And The Huntsman,” which put her back in the harsh spotlight, for reasons that had little to do with the actual movie). Now, Hollywood is trying to once again lure her back to tentpole land.

Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o are among those being eyed to lead the brewing reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.” Elizabeth Banks is attached to direct the Sony/Columbia Pictures project which , is already scheduled to hit cinemas on July 7, 2019 release date. “Narcos” creators Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro are rewriting the script by Evan Spiliotopoulos (“Beauty and the Beast”), but there’s no word yet if there will be any twist on the concept. I can’t imagine there would be, given the “Charlie’s Angels” movies from the early aughts did pretty well at the box office by keeping it pretty straightforward.

The question of course is whether or not this is something Stewart or Nyong’o would be interested in, but as ‘Huntsman’ showed, anything is possible, at least as far as the former “Twilight” actress is concerned. And in case you forgot, the studio was also looking at “Moonlight” star and musician Janelle Monae early on for a role, but she’s not mentioned in the latest report from Variety, so I’d assume she has better things to do.
