'La La Land' Leads Critics' Choice Awards Nominations, 'Arrival' & 'Moonlight' Close Behind

The clock has rolled over to December, and the awards season isn’t wasting a hot minute. The Broadcast Film Critics Association have revealed their nominations for the 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, and one of the year’s major frontrunners for Oscar glory remains on top.

La La Land” leads the pack with twelve nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Song, with “Arrival” and “Moonlight” coming in close behind with ten nods each. This awards show tends to be more Golden Globes-y with separate categories for Comedy, Action and Horror, and if you’re wondering where “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” might be, it hasn’t screened for critics yet. And while the BFCA made an exception last year and controversially allowed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to get nominated after voting had closed, don’t expect a repeat of that this time around. (And yes, that means Martin Scorsese‘s “Silence” isn’t being invited to the ball either).

The awards will be handed out surprisingly early this year, on December 11th. The show will be hosted by T.J. Miller and broadcast on A&E. Check out the full list of nominees below.
