'Let The Right One In' TV Series Coming To TNT

And the reboots keep coming! It’s all the rage nowadays to take beloved source material and reboot it for modern audiences. Normally this happens with films and series that are at least 20 years old. However, TNT is moving forward with a reboot of the acclaimed 2008 Swedish film “Let the Right One In.”

“Let the Right One In” is based on the novel of the same name and tells the story of a lonely, bullied 12-year-old boy who befriends a girl his age who helps him. The twist is the little girl happens to be a vampire who is quite older than she appears. The Swedish film was featured in film festivals across the world and was universally praised by critics. According to TNT, the series will be based on the novel and not the film, and casting for the leads is already underway.

This isn’t the first time the novel (and let’s face it, movie) has been remade for American audiences. “Cloverfield” director Matt Reeves remade the film in 2010, titled “Let Me In,” before helming “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” The film went on to have good reviews and the support of the original novel’s author.

“Let the Right One In” joins a variety of vampire shows in production and currently on TV. CW is working hard on their reboot of the 1987 film “The Lost Boys,” and they currently have “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.” Of course HBO scored big with “True Blood,” and FX is currently airing “The Strain.” [THR]
