Listen: Beyoncé & Andre 3000's "Back To Black" From 'The Great Gatsby,' Soundtrack Getting Vinyl Release

nullWhile the prospect of Beyoncé and Andre 3000 covering Amy Winehouse‘s “Back To Black” has many intrigued, one person who isn’t a fan of the whole endeavour is the late singer’s father. “I don’t think she brings anything to it,” Mitch Winehouse told the Daily Mail. “I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it.” But he then goes on to clarify that the filmmakers “have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.” So he’s down with this if the price is right? Either way, the song has been completed and you can now hear the results.

The cover was debuted on the East Village Radio mixshow, hosted by Mark Ronson, co-writer of the original, and the finished product is…okay. Beyoncé certainly gets to flex her singing chops, but the wobbly electronic redo doesn’t match the potency of the arrangements in Winehouse’s tune. But anyway, give it a listen and let us know what you think below.

Finally, as you already known, the soundtrack hits on May 7th. However, if you’re a vinyl junkie, you might want to skip the CD and wait for the LP being issued by Third Man Records which will contain all 17 tracks on the Target exclusive CD deluxe edition. They are also dropping individual 7″ discs for certain tracks on the album, including Jack White‘s cover of U2‘s “Love Is Blindness.”

So keep that all in mind — the movie drops May 10th. [JustJared/CraveOnline]
