Usually, the journey is much more important than the end destination. The journey itself, complete with unexpected detours and much needed distractions, is a life altering experience, no matter how big or small. There are many lessons, whether they be subtle or written on a giant wall, to be learned, a trial and error process with a lot to gain.
To me, that is the lesson taken from The Alchamist, a story written by Paulo Coelho in spanish originally, but timeless enough to be translated for all to enjoy. Taking place in Spain, a young shepard is told of a great treasure wiating for him to find. From there, it basically turns into a philosophical and more intelligent version of a road trip movie, with many obstacles for the young boy to overcome, and of course, a love interest.
The story is well written and easy to follow along. Coelho has written a seemingly timeless story that has many lessons for the reader to take long after the last page has been turned.
