Liz Moore has done something very interesting with these 14 short stories all dealing with, in some way, shape or form the vast world of the music industry. Out of the 14 stories, only one can't be connected to the rest of them (with the exception of Ellen Mills, who was on the Titan label).
This collection shows dreams being crushed, careers getting started, a father who pushes too far in hopes of success, a fictionary look into the corporate world of music (which is rarely seen), relationships and their effect on music, a star in the making, a rock star and his band's (mainly the guitarist, Jeff) trials and tribulations on the road, family life, and a talk show host making a rash decision. Moore crams a lot of great information in these quick, quirky and fun to read stories.
The book becomes hard to put down at times, even though the stories are all different (in a sense that its not a one way flowing story). The characters faults are all painted on the wall, but they all have the human side (which includes the faults) that makes them sympathetic. This is a great read and a fun fictional look at the music industry; a must read for music obsessives like myself.
