Live Action 'Dumbo' In The Works Because Disney Wants To Make Sure All Your Childhood Memories Are Covered

DumboDisney wants your nostalgia dollars, and they will tramp through their catalog of classic animation to get it. They already gave us the "Sleeping Beauty" prequel we didn’t need with "Maleficent," a new version of "Cinderella" is coming next year, Jon Favreau has "The Jungle Book" cooking and yes, even the beloved "Beauty & The Beast" is getting a live action redo with Bill Condon directing. But that’s not all. Now another beloved classic is getting dragged out and slapped with new paint because they can.

THR reports that "Dumbo" will now go CG, with pixels to recreate the charming pachyderm and the story—with a script by "Transformers" franchise writer Ehren Kruger (good lord)—to feature a human family to match Dumbo’s journey. Bleh. No word on a director but development is ongoing we reckon, and now the big question is, what animated property will Disney touch next? I don’t know what their plans are, but if they touch the awesome and severely underrated "Robin Hood," that will be my breaking point.

Anyway, shed a tear and watch the trailer for the original "Dumbo" below. But at least this redo won’t be as bad as Disney’s last live action elephant movie "Operation Dumbo Drop"… right?
