'The Lost Boys' Will Now Be An Anthology TV Series On The CW

Known most recently as the network with almost every superhero show, The CW also loves their vampires. The network features not one, but two vampire shows in their lineup, with “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.” According to Deadline, with at least one of the shows ending soon, the network is interested in moving forward on a series based on “The Lost Boys.”

Released in 1987, “The Lost Boys” is a film about two brothers who move to a new town and quickly realize it is overrun by vampires. The series, however, is going to be much more experimental. Spearheaded by “Veronica Mars” and “iZombie” creator Rob Thomas, the reboot is a sort of anthology series. Envisioned as a seven-season show, each season will feature a new time period, starting in 1967 San Francisco. The only returning characters each season will be the vampires, showcasing their immortality.

“The Lost Boys” would fit perfectly in what’s clearly the network’s strategy of building shows around known properties. Along with their five separate series based on DC comics characters including “iZombie,” the network also has the aforementioned “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” based on a series of novels, and the upcoming “Frequency” and “Riverdale” based on a film and the “Archie” comic series respectively.
