Mark Hamill Is Ready To "Move On" From 'Star Wars' But Not Before One Last Jab At 'The Last Jedi'

Mark Hamill just can’t help himself, can he?

Who knew that Luke Skywalker would be the guy who was the most critical of ‘Star Wars?’ Apparently, all it took was killing the character off for Mark Hamill to finally come clean about what he thinks.

Over the past few months, Hamill hasn’t been shy about criticizing Rian Johnson’sStar Wars: The Last Jedi.” Hamill has talked about not agreeing with the characterization of Luke, and how much the storyline has changed from what George Lucas envisioned decades ago. But Hamill is a professional, and when asked about his experience, he always compliments Johnson.

However, in a recent interview with IGN, Hamill took the time to throw one more jab at ‘The Last Jedi.’ When discussing how he would have liked to have more emotional moments for Luke, particularly with dealing with Han’s death, Hamill said, “They had time for me to milk that big alien, but to show any human emotion? ‘Nah, we don’t have time for that.’ But, you know, again, it’s not my call.”

Hamill is clearly a guy who just doesn’t give a shit anymore. He did his “Star Wars” stuff and he’s ready to move on. In fact, in an interview with Games Radar, he confirms that he doesn’t really foresee a way for Luke to come back at all in the upcoming finale.

“I haven’t really thought about it because there’s such a sense of closure, Luke’s story is told. What more can I do? And you know, you have to start disconnecting from it emotionally,” said Hamill.

He continues to talk about how he started to feel done with the series when he saw Han die in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“That’s what struck me, that was the first break, we lost a member of the band. And then what happened with Luke, I said ‘Ok, that’s the next link’ when I was still thinking I’ll come back as a Force ghost. And then to lose Carrie [Fisher] in real life, I said ‘That’s it’. They say you can never go home again, and that for me was the real indication that it’s time to move on,” concluded the actor.

So, for those hoping that Luke would appear as a Force ghost, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. But don’t worry, Lucasfilm already has plans on who they think can come back for ‘Episode IX.’
