Marvel At Comic-Con: Planet Hulk Confirmed For ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ New Logos Unveiled, ‘Black Panther Cast Confirmed

Well, that’s a wrap on Marvel’s Comic-Con panel. The big reveals? The new “Doctor Strange” trailer and the confirmation of Brie Larson as “Captain Marvel.” The rest? Well, there was footage shown of ‘Strange,’ “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming;” some footage, concept art and a skit from “Thor: Ragnarok;” and more. The unfortunate part for fans not in Hall H was not that much footage was unveiled online.

But, there were some details previously under wraps that came to the surface, finally. It’s always been rumored that there would be a Hulk movie based on the “Planet Hulk” storyline. Those rumors made the rounds very early on in the MCU plan and were quickly squashed by Marvel themselves.

thor-ragnarok-new-marvel-logoBut it appears we will see elements of the story in “Thor: Ragnarok,” aka the third “Thor” movie, which is supposed to be some kind of buddy road-trip movie with the green giant and the Asgardian Norse god teaming up. At Comic-Con this afternoon, on the floor of the convention, costumes and gear from the upcoming ‘Thor 3’ comic were on display. And pretty much any comic book can tell you this armor in plain view looks like it’s ripped from the pages of the “Planet Hulk” storyline. And well, the ‘Ragnorak’ panel basically teased the same elements in concept art. But it’s a “Thor” movie, and Marvel loves to take elements of comic-book stories and use them as the launching pad for new MCU narratives, so I wouldn’t quite expect a “Planet Hulk” movie so much, but clearly the movie’s going to be at least somewhat inspired.
