Michael Fassbender Says He Had Talks For A Role In 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

This weekend, Michael Fassbender is backflipping into cinemas with the video-game adaptation “Assassin’s Creed,” which is currently sitting at a dismal 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. The actor isn’t a stranger to blockbusters, as part of the “X-Men” series, but perhaps had things gone different, we’d be seeing him in a galaxy far, far away instead of being hooked up to a time travel fight machine or something.

Speaking with Happy Sad Confused (via EW), he reveals that he sat down with J.J. Abrams about a possible role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“We talked about a role,” Fassbender said. “We had a conversation. I’m pretty sure I was busy doing something else in the summer he was kickstarting that.”

The mind reels at who he could’ve played — General Hux, Kylo Ren or Poe Dameron — so we’ll just have to leave it to the imagination. But at the risk of heresy….’The Force Awakens’ is just fine without Fassbender. Hux isn’t that big of a role, Adam Driver was the perfect emo son Han Solo deserved, and Oscar Isaac‘s Poe had that magical chemistry with John Boyega‘s Finn. All that said, there are plenty more spinoffs and more to come, so perhaps Fassbender will find his way into a “Star Wars” vehicle at some point.
