Natalie Portman's 'Jane Got A Gun' Slated For February 2016 Release By The Weinstein Company

nullFilmed in 2013, and then shuffled around a variety of release dates including summer 2014, February 2015, and September 4th of this year, the troubled western "Jane Got A Gun" hit yet another speed bump when Relativity went belly up. Directed by Lynne Ramsay — who was replaced by Gavin O’Connor just as cameras started to roll — the movie has now found a new home and release date, and fingers crossed this one will stick.

The Weinstein Company have snatched up the movie, and pegged it for a February 2016 release, which will be a few months after it rolls out in Europe in November. Starring Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, Noah Emmerich, Rodrigo Santoro, and Boyd Holbrook, the story centers on a woman (Portman) who asks her ex-lover (Edgerton) for help in order to save her outlaw husband (Emmerich) from a gang out to kill him.

I’m still optimistic (and probably delusional) that despite all the troubles the production faced, that maybe there’s a decent picture hiding in here. And let’s hope The Weinstein Company stick to the new release date, because recently, they’ve been pushing movies back at the last minute (they bumped the release of the very long delayed "Shanghai" to October, and this week they also bumped "About Ray" a few days before it was set to open).

In short, "Jane Got A Gun" is in the saddle again, and hopefully it’ll ride over the horizon, finally, toward a happy ending. [Variety]
