Netflix Says Another Season Of 'Gilmore Girls' Could Be On The Way

After months of stringing fans along, Netflix honcho Ted Sarandos confirmed that the streaming service is currently in preliminary talks with creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino for another season of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” The popular revival series ended on a cliffhanger, leaving many fans to wonder whether or not their beloved mother-daughter duo would be returning for another season.

“We hope [there are more installments]. We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped,” Sarandos told the U.K. Press Association. Starring Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham, the Netflix revival takes place nearly a decade after the finale of the original series. The 90-minute episodes follow Lorelai, Rory and Emily Gilmore through their four seasons of change.

The possibly of another season of “A Year in the Life” is a pleasant surprise for its creators as well. Amy Sherman-Palladino revealed in an interview last December that the revival series was initially pitched as “close-ended.” While the possibility of a second season wasn’t out of the question, it certainly wasn’t discussed.

As many of the co-stars are currently busy with other projects, the return of the second season also depends on the co-stars’ schedules. Alexis Bledel is currently starring in Hulu’s “A Handmaid’s Tale,” and Lauren Graham will star in the upcoming TV movie “Linda from HR.” Fans may have also noticed that Milo Ventigmala, who played Rory’s ex-boyfriend Jess, has dropped his bad boy persona in favor for his more mature role as Jack Pearson in NBC‘s massive hit drama, “This Is Us.” [EW]
