It’s Television Critics Association week, and yesterday Netflix took the floor to talk about what’s on the horizon. Sadly, for those waiting for news about “Stranger Things” season 2, nothing was forthcoming. But the company disclosed a little bit about its Marvel slate, and in short, fans have a lot to look forward to, though maybe not in the order you were expecting.

While no exact launch dates were announced (beyond “Luke Cage” which arrives on September 30th), the plan is to get new Marvel shows “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders” out the door first, before pivoting back to new seasons of “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” and launching “Punisher.”

If you wish Netflix would just hurry up and get these shows out, the company’s honcho Ted Sarandos feels your pain, but the company doesn’t want skimp on quality for the sake of getting content. “I doubt that we could produce at the quality that they produce at [an increased] speed,” he said. “But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them.”
Meanwhile, on the movie tip, Marvel’s Kevin Feige was asked at San Diego Comic-Con about the status of “Inhumans,” the on-again, off-again project that was pushed back from its planned July 2, 2019 release date this spring. Apparently the movie is still in the cards.
“We’ve announced through 2019, we have ideas through 2021. It sounds like the future, but it’s not so far away. We’re determining what we’ll be doing then and certainly “Inhumans” will be part of that,“ he said.
