New And First Footage From 'The Lost City Of Z,' '20th Century Women' & More Revealed In New York Film Festival Trailer

We’ve had a moment to breathe following the marathon of Venice, Telluride and TIFF running back-to-back-to-back (and overlapping with each other), but now we’re getting ready to gear up again with the New York Film Festival, which kicks off a week from today. And organizers are getting cinephiles ready with a trailer featuring the many titles hitting the fest, and there’s some intriguing stuff to be found in there.

Of note is the first footage from Mike Mills‘ highly anticipated “20th Century Women” featuring Annette Bening, Dakota Fanning, Greta Gerwig and more, plus a new glimpse of James Gray‘s “The Lost City Of Z” (as you’ll remember, a sales trailer leaked earlier this year and was quickly yanked). There’s also a quick glimpse at Ava DuVernay‘s documentary “The 13th” featuring clips with both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, suggesting a film that’s going to be a conversation starter. And that’s the whole point for festival director Kent Jones.

“What doesn’t matter to me is whether [attendees] like the films or not. That’s okay if they don’t. We can argue! That’s a great thing, to be able to argue,” Jones told EW. “I want people to come and have an experience, because we’re saying we love these movies, and we want to share them with you.”

The New York Film Festival kicks off on September 30th.
