Director Michael Bay said he wouldn’t be back, but here we are, “Transformers: The Last Knight” is in the can and hits theaters this summer. But by all accounts, this REALLY is Bay’s final movie as it appears that Paramount is looking to go all Marvel Cinematic Universe with the franchise and essentially set up a TCU with a Bumblebee spin-off and more. Will it work? Surely the groundwork is laid for it in what is the fifth “Transformers” film. Here’s the synopsis and key cast.

Transformers: The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

But the franchise looks like it’s setting up a new lead as Isabela Moner, the character Izabella, street-smart tomboy who was orphaned by the Battle of Chicago in ‘Dark of the Moon,‘ is definitely the star of this trailer.

“’Transformers: The Last Knight” hits theaters June 23. Watch the new trailer here.
