Nicole Kidman & Elle Fanning Are Punks In New Photos From ‘How To Talk To Girls At Parties’

With four projects headed to the Croissette, Nicole Kidman is clearly the belle of the ball at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. She’ll be appearing in season two of Jane Campion’s “Top of the Lake,” and has three films being veiled, including two in Competition: Sofia Coppola’s American civil war film-set “The Beguiled,”  and Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” And then there’s John Cameron Mitchell’s “How to Talk to Girls at Parties.” The last time the director/actress paired together, Kidman earned her third Best Actress Oscar nomination for the film “Rabbit Hole.”

Adapted from the Neil Gaiman short story, according to The Guardian, Kidman plays an extravagant fashion and music entrepreneur who sees Elle Fanning’s mysterious alien character as a possible protegée. It’s a movie that mixes music with science fiction to possibly dizzying results.

“It’s madness,” Mitchell told ScreenDaily about his movie last year. “I feel like I’m dragging Nicole into the depths of hell It’s straight into punk filth, and she’s kicking ass.” Here’s the Cannes synopsis:

A story about the birth of punk, the exuberance of first love, and the universe’s greatest mystery of all: how to talk to girls at parties.

And speaking of Fanning, she’s not far behind with Cannes domination, playing the lead role in “How To Talk To Girls At Parties” and features with Kidman for “The Beguiled.”

“Her work feels effortless,” Kidman said of Fanning in the recent Vogue cover story.

It’s one of our most anticipated film from the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival and some new, very alien-esque photos have arrived to stoke the flame. On top of Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, “How To Talk To Girls At Parties” co-stars Alex Sharp, Ruth Wilson, and Matt Lucas.

A24 Pictures has already picked up the film and presumably will release it sometime later in 2017. Check out the pictures below.
