Oktay Ege Kozak is one of our contributors, as well as the co-host of the Over/Under Movies podcast, which is part of The Playlist Podcast Network. He is also a screenwriter and a script coach. One of his screenplays, “Frozen Summer,” is now published as a book by 120pages, a company that connects readers with unproduced award-winning screenplays. Here’s their mission statement:

120pages believes that a screenplay is a work of art, not just a blueprint for film. We recognize the screenwriter as an artist and strive to provide exposure and financial support through various mediums, distributions channels, and revenue models.

Apart from earning the Gold Award from The 2013 Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest under the Family Film category, “Frozen Summer” also won Honorable Mention at the 2014 Screenplay Festival, 3rd Place at the 2015 Reddit Screenwriting Contest, and was a Finalist at the 2012 Slamfance Film Festival. Here’s the synopsis:

Max is a 13-year-old math whiz who spends his free time working on equations, scientific experiments, and designing a secret project of his own. When his genius earns him early entry into a prestigious college, his mother worries that childhood is passing him by.

Afraid he will become even more anti-social, Max’s mother rents a lake house and takes the family on a summer vacation. While Max does make some friends his own age at the lake, he also befriends Sandy, a mysterious burned-out middle-aged scientist who takes a keen interest in Max.

While Max’s mother is concerned about Sandy’s intentions, the seemingly clairvoyant scientist helps Max with some math equations and problems, including the big question: how does Max approach Amanda, a girl at the lake that he has a crush on?

“Frozen Summer” can be purchased on e-book or paperback from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or the 120pages Shop, where you can also check out the five other screenplays that are being published as the first phase of this exciting endeavor.blank
