Paramount Bringing 'Deadpool' Creator Rob Liefeld's 'Avengelyne' To The Big Screen

The studio has hired Akiva Goldsman to produce, and most likely direct, “Avengelyne” as an action thriller in the same vein as “John Wick.” If you haven’t ready the comic, “Avengelyne” is a scantily clad fallen angel who was kicked out of Heaven for questioning God’s love of humanity. Now on Earth, she must fight demons and protect humans in an attempt to redeem herself and become an angel once again.

Goldsman has most recently been overseeing the Hasbro films for Paramount, including the upcoming “Transformers” films. Now, Paramount is hoping he can bring those talents to “Avengelyne” to create a new franchise for the studio.

As previously mentioned, “Avengelyne” is perhaps best known in the comic book community for her clothing, or lack thereof. Most issue covers show the character in very suggestive poses with large swords. Here’s hoping that Paramount decides to take this character out of the “cheesecake” territory. If they do that, they could have another unlikely hit from Rob Liefeld on their hands.
