ALBUM OF THE WEEK:

The Freeze are a punk band who really took a lot of shit for being a punk band, which is documented in the liner notes of Token Bones, a "best of," you could say, of one of my favorite Boston punk bands. These guys played by their own rules, wrote the songs they wanted to and didn't give a rat's fuck about anything else; and that is to be admired, even though they were always looking in from the outside in the Boston punk scene.
The Freeze played melodic punk with a hard edge to it, and singer Cliff Hanger has an amazing voice. Listening to the music these guys played in the early 80s, its amazing that they are rarely (read: never) mentioned as an influence of bands today.
