Pete Holmes Stands Up To Life's Challenges In New Trailer For Judd Apatow-Produced HBO Comedy 'Crashing'

Judd Apatow has always been a student of comedy, but in particular (especially lately), he’s been intrigued by the lives of stand-up comics. In 2009, he explored the topic with the dramedy “Funny People,” but in the year ahead he’s putting his producing powers behind a couple of intriguing projects. Later this month at Sundance, he’ll be behind the indie “The Big Sick,” co-written and directed by Michael Showalter, and starring Kumail Nanjiani playing a man making his way through the world of dating and stand-up comedy. And next month, Apatow will be back on HBO helping “Crashing” get out in the world.

Pete Holmes stars in the series playing a role not too far removed from his own life, a stand-up comic, as he faces misfortune and misadventure in love and his career. Here’s the official synopsis:

After discovering his wife, Jessica, in a compromising position with another man, aspiring but unworldly stand-up comedian Pete flees to the New York comedy scene, where he crashes on other people’s couches, in the process learning hard lessons about life and himself.

The series will see comic faces like Dave Attell, Hannibal Buress, Artie Lange, T.J. Miller, Jim Norton, Rachael Ray and Sarah Silverman dropping by. Apatow directed the first and last episodes of “Crashing,” which launches on Sunday, February 19th.
