Peter Dinklage Joins 'Avengers: Infinity War,' Spider-Man & More 'Guardians' Confirmed To Appear

Marvel is getting ready for their next mega movie,  “Avengers: Infinity War.” A two part-er, although they’ve apparently dropped Part 1 and Part 2 as the subtitles for each film, the super hero studio is ramping up casting and tonight it’s been revealed that “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage is in early talks for a key role. What character he’ll actually be playing is unknown at the moment, but given his size and the storyline, many people are already speculating he’ll play Uatu The Watcher. Whatever role it turns out to be, Dinklage is apparently signing on for both films.

Here’s a wiki synopsis that seems to do the trick:

The Watchers are cosmic beings, who possess the innate ability to achieve virtually any effect desired, including augmenting personal attributes, time and space manipulation, molecular manipulation, energy projection, and a range of mental powers. They also have access to highly advanced technology.

Speculation of course, but given the movie will feature higher beings like The Collector and Thanos, it’s a good bet. The one caveat, and who knows how those deals work exactly, but The Watcher first appeared in a “Fantastic Four” comic, the rights of which are owned by 20th Century Fox. OK, who knows.

What is known is that the two part ‘Infinity Wars’ films are going to be jam packed with characters. Recently it was revealed two more heroes were joining the collective; “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland (confirmed by Vogue) and Gamora of “Guardians Of The Galaxy” played by Zoe Saldana (MTV). Expect this to be a kind of hand-off picture where characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America can move to the background and newer heroes can take over and begin to bear the burden of carrying these films.

Captain America: Civil War” filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo will direct “Avengers: Infinity War” and the film has a release date of May 4, 2018. [Variety]
