Producers Guild Awards 2018 Docu Nominees Include 'Jane,' More

Brace yourself, because there’s only five weeks and change left until the year is out, which means the awards season is going into high gear. Guilds and critics groups are going hard in the weeks ahead, and out of the gate tonight is the Producers Guild of America with their nominees for Best Documentary.

Seven films are going into battle, with HBO and Netflix commanding the race with two films each. The former has “Cries From Syria” and “The Newspaperman: The Life and Times of Ben Bradlee” under their belt, while the streaming giant claims “Chasing Coral” and “Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower.” I’m not the best awards guru, but “Jane” has been winning over many so Abramorama could be in the running, however nothing is more timely than than the ‘Ben Bradlee’ pic, especially with Steven Spielberg‘s “The Post” likely to give it a boost.

The ceremony for the 2018 Producers Guild Awards presented by Cadillac takes place on January 20, 2018 at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles where the final winners will be announced.
