Pierce Brosnan Is A Cowboy In New Trailer For AMC’s ‘The Son’

Upon first viewing, it’s hard to pay attention to everything going on in the first trailer for AMC’s upcoming series “The Son.” The distraction stems from the series’ star, Pierce Brosnan. The former James Bond adopts a distinct Southern accent for the series as he plays a cowboy in the Old West. The very British Brosnan tries his best to sound Southern, and watching the trailer for the first time, it’s difficult to focus on anything else other than that accent.

However, once you get past the main character’s voice, “The Son” looks like it could be some compelling TV. Brosnan plays Eli, the patriarch of a Texas family in the mid-19th century. The series will concurrently follow Eli as a young child as he’s captured and raised by a Comanche tribe, and as an aging patriarch defending his cattle ranch during war times utilizing his Comanche training.

“The Son” is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by author Phillipp Meyer. Rounding out the cast are Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon, and Sydney Lucas. Kevin Murphy, of “Desperate Housewives” fame, is the Executive Producer/Showrunner.

“The Son” is set to debut in 2017.
