Exclusive: Poster For Greg Barker's Obama Doc 'The Final Year'

As the whirlpool of fall film festivals continue to press on, the onslaught of film news, reviews and promotion will continue. It’s an exciting time for film enthusiasts (albeit hectic) with gems seemingly being dropped every moment of the day. This excitement includes the debut poster for the film “The Final Year,” directed by Greg Barker. Not only an intriguing looking documentary on subject matter alone, it’s also a striking release amid all of the political tension (to put in lightly) taking place in the country today. A look the final year of President Barack Obama’s tenure, specifically members of his administration including Secretary of State John Kerry, Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power,  and confidant and speech writer Ben Rhodes, the film looks to inspire early melancholy for what was in the face of such nationwide turmoil.

A unprecedented glimpse into in-the-moment drama and real life stresses, the documentary looks to open viewers eyes to the motions that took place behind the scenes as the country prepared itself for the upcoming elections. With film credits that include “Sergio,” “Manhunt: The Story of the Hunt for Bin Laden,” “We Are the Giant” and “Homegrown: The Counter-Terror Dilemma,” Barker is no stranger to controversial and important stories. What makes “The Final Year” feel all the more potent is, perhaps obviously, the timely nature of the subject especially as the documentary dives into the handling of the outgoing year and the development of U.S. relations with other nations. You think the Trump admin will take notes?

“The Final Year” will make its world premiere at this years Toronto Film Festival which kicks on September 7th and runs until September 17th. Check out the exclusive poster below.
