Rian Johnson Talks Taking On ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ In Scriptnotes Podcast

In the latest episode of the podcast “Scriptnotes,” writer/director Rian Johnson talks about his whole career leading up to taking on the biggest project of his life, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Not surprisingly, he was just as nervous as you might imagine writing and directing the massive blockbuster, and his biggest fear was that he would “fuck up ‘Star Wars.’”

For those who haven’t listened in the past, “Scriptnotes” is a podcast hosted by Craig Mazin and John August, as they speak with other creators and discuss their careers and how they broke big. Rian Johnson joins them talking about how he has consistently been making his own films, starting with his debut, “Brick.” Of course, the hosts were very interested in talking about ‘The Last Jedi.” Specifically, they were curious about how it was different than any of his previous films. Johnson surprisingly said that there really wasn’t much of a difference at all. He approached ‘The Last Jedi’ the same way he did any other film, and had an overall great experience.

Obviously, listeners aren’t going to get any sneak peeks or secrets about the highly anticipated film, but Johnson does a great job explaining his career and offering little bits of advice for any would-be writers and directors.
