Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood' Graduates To Top Spot In Empire Magazine's 10 Best Films Of 2014

BoyhoodThe lists keep coming, and while many folks pore over this year’s releases trying to figure out which movies deserve to fill a final ranking of ten slots, the folks over at Empire have made that task a little easier. They’ve unleashed a list of fifty of the year’s best movies (roughly amounting to choosing one per week), but it’s the final ten we’re concerned about, and one movie that has been picking up steady steam can now put another feather in its cap.

Richard Linklater‘s "Boyhood" has snagged the top spot, adding to its Best Film win from the New York Film Critics Circle and Audience Award from the Gotham Awards. And with that, the little indie that could continues to chug along. Elsewhere, the final ten is a mix of blockbusters, starry indies, and at least one outsider choice (the comedy "What We Do In The Shadows"). And no, your eyes aren’t deceiving you — some of the movies on there ("The Wolf Of Wall Street," "Her," "Inside Llewyn Davis") are 2013 releases for us, but came out abroad this year.
