New Trailer For 'Una' Starring Rooney Mara

Not every movie that gets slotted for premiere film festivals like Telluride and TIFF manage to find a home or are even remembered. That’s nothing new, but it’s certainly a bit curious that “Una,” which features the great trio of actors – Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn, and Riz Ahmed – has fallen a bit through the cracks. The muted response probably didn’t help, nor the tricky subject matter, but any chance to see Mara and Mendelsohn face off is one we’d gladly take.

Based on David Harrower‘s award winning play “Blackbird,” the story follows a young woman who confronts the man she had a sexual relationship with as a teenager. It’s charged material, and no doubt, many secrets surface. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on David Harrower’s play ‘Blackbird’, UNA focuses on the emotionally devastating ramifications following a young woman’s attempt to track down a man from her past, unearthing long-buried secrets and desires.

“Una” opens in the U.K. on September 1st. No word yet on a U.S. release date.
