Ryan Reynolds Reportedly On Star-Studded Shortlist For 'Green Lantern Corps'

With President Trump now in the White House and trying to figure out how to open the drawers of the desk in the Oval Office with his tiny hands, even he can’t stop Hollywood from making superhero movies. Nor can he stop Warner Bros. from dreaming big about their brewing “Green Lantern Corps” movie.

The Wrap reports that on the star-studded shortlist for Hal Jordan is Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Armie Hammer, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Reynolds. **record scratch** Yep, Ryan Reynolds. The actor who saw his career nearly vanish after the flop of 2011’s “Green Lantern” is apparently in the mix, and it’s easy to see why. He’s rebuilt his brand in a huge way with “Deadpool,” fanboys love him, and he’s huge on social media too. He’s the total package, but whether or not he wants to try and redeem that character again remains to be seen. (I seriously doubt it).

As the trade makes clear, this is all super-early and there are no talks with anybody yet, so this seems more wishlist than shortlist. But if you told me a couple years ago that Tom Cruise would star in “The Mummy,” I would’ve said you were crazy, so who knows. And even the super-picky Gyllenhaal is treading back into blockbuster waters with the video-game movie “The Division.”
