Samuel L. Jackson Assumed He Was Getting A Role In 'Inglorious Bastards'

Catching up on more stuff. Man, MTV’s Splashpage is killin’ it these days. Kudos to them.

LOL, Samuel L. Jackson not only thought he had a shot at being in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards,” the actor had the gall to call Quentin up and asked if he’d have to learn French for the role! First off, the character is a French American character that speaks French in the script explicitly, secondly he called him up assuming he was going to get the part? During their conversation, Jackson says Tarantino asked him, “Do you know any black French actors?” I said, “what the f***?!? Yeah, me!” I gave him the name of some guys. So yeah we had a small conversation about it. We’ll see what happens.” Well, we know what happened. A French actor has been cast, he’s not you (his name is Jacky Ido). [MTV]

If you haven’t heard already, Universal doesn’t want to spend $130 million on Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro’s “Tintin,” pet project. Paramount has stepped in to help out though. [Cinemablend]

M. Night Shyamalan is still considering making a sequel to “Unbreakable.” Yawn. [Splashpage]

Ralphie, Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau will reteam for “Couples Retreat,” a comedy centered around four couples who go to a tropical island resort who realize their vacation is hijacked by the mandatory participation in the resort’s couples therapy sessions. We keep calling Peter Billingsley “Ralphie,” because he’s best known for playing the star of “A Christmas Story.” A longtime co-producer of many Favreau/Vaughn projects, including “Made,” “The Break-Up,” “Dinner for Five” and “Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland,” that will be Ralphie’s (Billingsley’s) directorial debut and it could be pretty decent considering all the work these guys have done together usually yields some pretty good laughs. First Perry Farrell and Blue October, and now punk pop band Paramore has been added to the “Twilight,” soundtrack. Let’s hope it’s in one of those music-inspired by the film discs and the movie itself mostly just features Carter Burwell’s score. [MTV]

Matthew McConaughey had no clue he was rumored to play Captain America and denies he’s ever had knowledge of he project (in fact, he seems to be completely unaware who the character is). Will Smith, who was also once rumored for the part, is officially out too. [Splashpage/Splashpage]

Bill Hader and Anna Faris have officially signed on to add their voices to the adaptation of the kid novel, “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.” That’s not entirely new info, but oh well. The voice cast is rounded out by James Caan, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T and Tracy Morgan. Mark Mothersbaugh is composing the score and the animated film will be due January 2010. [Variety]

This feature about 7 Lame Films That Don’t Deserve A Cult Following, isn’t perfect, but very on the mark when it comes to terrible films like, “Napoleon Dynamite,” and decent, but grossly overrated films like, “Donnie Darko.” [Flixster]
