Set Pics Of Chloe Moretz As Hit Girl, Donald Faison As Dr. Gravity & Clark Duke As Battle Guy In 'Kick-Ass 2'

We can’t figure out whether to be excited or not about “Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.” Sure the first film was all kinds of fun, and some of the new casting additions are pretty exciting — most notably Jim Carrey. But on the other hand, there’s no Matthew Vaughn this time, and by all accounts Mark Millar’s comic wasn’t that great this time and it sounds as if it was going to need a lot of changes made to it before it could work on the big screen.

We’re still no clearer on the issue after seeing the first batch of set photos from Jeff Wadlow’s film. It’s our first chance to see Kick Ass himself again (that costume is still inherently brilliant), as well as some of the members of the new vigilante group Justice Forever. Clark Duke has donned a sub-Captain America suit this time around to take on the persona of Battle-Guy, new addition Robert Emms can be seen in costume as Insect Man, and there are even glances of husband and wife duo Remembering Tommy from behind.

The most interesting pics though are of Donald Faison’s Doctor Gravity and of Chloe Moretz back in costume as Hit Girl. We’re sure you’ll agree that Faison looks brilliant while flashing a cheeky grin in his costume, and we’re confident that he’ll fit in very nicely in the film’s established universe. Chloe Moretz is back as Hit Girl, and it should be noted that her character is supposed to be ten years old in the comics, but Moretz is fast approaching 16. The first film faced accusations of sexualising the young character (erroneous allegations in our view), but it’s something Wadlow will likely be keenly aware of and eager to avoid this time around. "Kick Ass 2" is currently slated for release on June 28, 2013. [Latino Review/MovieWeb]
