The Locust, Daughters, Chinese Stars, Read Yellow
The Living Room in Providence, RI
April 12, 2005

I missed Read Yellow because a Newbury Comics had just opened up in Marlboro, MA, so Matt and I had to go to keep our streak of going to every Newbury Comics alive.

I showed up about midway through the Chinese Stars' set. Not being a fan of them (I like the music, but the vocals sound like an airplane is crashing into my brain), so I stayed outside and talked to some people. I went in once they finished and killed the half hour before Daughters went on stage by walking through the 200+ people in the crowd. The only person that made me sick was a chick wearing a "Thank God for Myspace" shirt.

The was my first time weeing Daughters live. I've been to a few of their other shows, but I always ended up missing them somehow. They were pretty damn good, and the crowd fucking loved them, as they constantly did that stupid "hold your hand in the air and move your fingers" routine.

Daughters played a few new songs, which were pretty impressive. The style wasn't much different from their old songs, but they were a bit longer. The strange thing I've noticed about Daughters is that their songs pretty much sound the same, but they are all individually recognizable and stand out. I also noticed that Lex unbuttoned his pants and was pretty close to exposing his man cock, which made me glad that I couldn't see the stage all that well.

The keyboardist of The Locust had the craziest head. It looked like a fucking switchboard from air traffic control. Their set was pretty good, though I was fighting my closing eyes and trying to stay awake. The cool thing that The Locust did was to constantly have some sort of music playing. I don't think I heard any more than three seconds of non music during their set. I left at about 12:30 because I was falling asleep and I knew that my next day had working with kids for nine hours on the agenda.
