The Mass Transit System decided to fuck with me, as I decided that public transportation would be a better way of getting to the show over using up my car's expensive gas. I arrive at the T Station in Attleboro just as the train arrives. I rush up the stairs without enough time to pay for parking, only to find out I'm on the wrong side. I rush down the stairs and under a bridge, barely making it on the train before it took off, which annoyed one of the workers who told me to hurry up. I also got on the wrong subway, but I was able to get back on easily and it only set me back ten minutes, though it sucked that the token dude told me that I'd need four tokens instead of the two I actually needed.
Hit the Lights played a few minutes after I showed up. Theywere nothing special: mid tempo drums, okay guitar leads, some catchy parts, and bubblegum as hell vocals. One of their guitarists had an afro, which always makes me want to wrect. They seemed to enjoy playing, but their generic Brand New type sound didn't impress me all that much.
Verbana Durvell was really good. They sounded like a very straightforward Blood Brothers, with an awesome vocalist. They guy had an arresting scream. They had a girl who played the violin, though it looked very small and it didn't stand out all that much. They played a real short set, finishing five minutes after they should have started. Thought their set was short, it was high energy and damn entertaining. Keep an eye out for these guys.
The Forecast were really tight. They sounded a lot like their record, only louder. Bassist/vocalist Shannon's nose was pressed up against the microphone every time she sang, which was really freaking me out. I was thinking how uncomfortable my nose would be if it were pressed up against a microphone, and that didn't seem fun. They played a totally rad, but short set, playing a lot of songs from Late Night Conversations, and one older song. I enjoyed them thoroughly.
I only caught two and a half Sunday Driver songs, but they were really impressive. They played good and catchy melodic rock music. I was very impressed with their drummer, who had a lot of talent.
Scary Kids Scaring Kids opened with "The City Sleeps in Flames;" my favorite song of theirs. They were really energetic, especially keyboardist Pouyan, who looked like Cory Feldman and was running the stage when he wasn't playing, in addition to lifting up his keyboard and doing other high energy stuff. They had a really good live sound; better than waht I had expected. All six members were really into the songs, which made for really good stage presence.
