Anberlin, Saosin, Acceptance, Code Seven, Terminal
July 8, 2005
The Living Room in Providence, RI

I walked into the club after Terminal started their set with a wet shoe due to the insane amounts of puddles in the parking lot. It was like walking through a small, unhappy pond. I really hate being wet.

I enjoyed Terminal, despite a soaked shoe (and sock). Sarah and I heard four muddy sounding songs of their set, with barely audible vocals. I'm not sure why the sound sucked, but I was hoping that the problem would be fixed for Code Seven.

They sounded like an emotional rock band. THe singer's voice kind of sounded like Michael Jackson when he talked in between songs. That was pretty funny to listen to. It looked like they had three guitarists (which wasn't necessary), but I couldn't tell for sure. I should have bought their album, but I decided not to for some reason.

Code Seven were another victim to crappy sound. The bass was too loud, the guitars were too soft and you had to really strain to hear the vocals, but they were still able to sound quite awesome. The drums and electonics were mixed pretty well. Jeff Jenkins' voice is so freaking awesome and fits so well with their spacey and stmospheric music. I just wish everything sounded clearer. Code Seven are a very energetic live band.

Acceptance had girls screaming during their mic check, and boys screaming by the end of their set. They sounded good, but I got bored by about the middle of their set. They had a lot of energy onstage, and the crowd responded with loud cheers, crowd surfing and, as I already mentioned, screaming. Their last song was really good, which was a good way to end the night. We left after Acceptance because I really dislike Saosin and didn't feel like suffering through them to see Anberlin.
