Asshole Parade, The Holy Mountain
AS220 in Providence, RI
March 21, 2007
I think I only missed a song or two after skipping out early on the Lamb of God show, a move that I in no way regret, especially after being so blown away by The Holy Mountain's set. They had an incredible amount of energy on stage, easily the most energetic set I saw that night. Their super fast and crusty hardcore had the crowd in a frenzy, with the small (compared to the show I was just at) punk rock crowd jumping all around and moshing up a storm to their songs. The songs were fast, but they still played for about a half hour, fitting in a ton of songs. The singer spent about half their set screaming on the floor in front of the stage, giving the band more room to rock out. Their set was absolutely amazing, making them one of the best live bands in the crusty hardcore realm.
It seemed to take forever for Asshole Parade to take the stage, but they had a good amount of energy as well. Their singer also spent most of their set singing on the floor, though he did end the set with a nice stage dive into nobody, which was pretty entertaining. They sounded like a mixture between The Holy Mountain and Dropdead (making good use of blast beats), but with cleaner vocals. They were good, but they had a hard act to follow in the almighty Holy Mountain.
