I have a true distaste for people who think its cool to wear sunglasses inside. This bother the living fucking hell out of me because you know that these people are accessorizing this way because they think that they look unique and cool, when the actually look like a piece of decaying shit. I only saw two people at the show wearing sunglasses inside, but it was enough to spark off this rant.
Big Business, a duo from Seattle, WA, took the stage and were really loud. It might have something to do with the four bass cabs that they had. These two dudes sounded like a full band (even though they were missing a guitarist), and hey were awesome. They were really tight and the drummer had some damn fine drumming chops.
Their sound was rock and rolll with what reminded me of a Motorhead influence (but a little slower and more offbeat). This could have just been the sound system they were playing through, but the vocals reminded me of John Joseph of Cro Mag fame. The singer/bassist was very proud of the new bass that he bought, mentioning it a few times and telling the crowd how cool the mirror on the guitar was. He broke the bass in by pounding the shit out of it during their impressive set.
I was looking forward to seeing The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, as I heard that they had a great live show. They sounded awesome and had tons of energy, which made for an entertaining set. I liked the red swastika armbands that had something that wasn't actually a swastika on it. All four members of the band had a lot of movement going on, something they weren't able to get the crowd to do. Instead, the crowd watched and listened intently (Providence doesn't move too much for the opening bands) and enjoy the great half hour of music. I highly recommend checking this band out live, as they were a treat.
The Blood Brothers were really rocking. They even had the mom that I was standing next to moving her body to the music. A lot of people closer to the stage had their fists proudly waving in the air. I only stayed for about five songs because I had a ton of work to do at home, but those songs capped off a really good night of music.
