Bane, Suicide File, Weerd Science, Bad Business

There was a big crowd difference between this show and the show Bane played on Thursday in Providence, RI. While the Providence show was barely half full with a lot of room to walk around, this show was stuffy, packed and hot.

The line was wrappeda round the church, with Chan and I close to the end of it. The line didn't seem to move for awhile, but I did see a white guy with cornrows, which looked pretty ridiculous.

Bad Business opened the show, featuring a singer that looked straight out of a RISD classroom. They played 15 minutes of fast, crusty punk/hardcore which was really good. They had an old style to them, which I liked a lot.

Weerd Science didn't bother me as much as they did on Thursday, but I still got bored after their first song. A lot of people seemed to like them, as one kid convulsed into a breakdancing session, which was entertaining to watch. The highlight of their set was watching Zach from Bane dance and sing along to the music. He was really into the music.

Suicide File brought the fun. They had party hats, air horns, noise makers and candy to throw around, making their set a very festive occasion. They also brought the heat, as the sweat level skyrocketed from all the dancing. The mosh pit opened up right away, taking up most of the room, and it didn't close at all. Tons of people were singing along and there were a good deal of stage dives. The singer was funny in between songs, adding non stop entertainment. Their second to last song, "Now Lie in It" (my personal favorite), had a ton of people on stage singing along. This was a cool set to watch.

I really enjoyed being awake enough to actually enjoy Bane, and not have to worry about falling asleep on the ride home. Bane totally shredded the stage, with almost everybody in the crowd moshing or singing along. The played a good mixture of songs from all of their albums, which was great to hear. They played my new favorite song, "Swan Song," which sounded absolutely incredible during Zach's part. That guy has one of the best voices in music and it contributes so much emotion to an already great song. Sweat was everywhere and nobody seemed to think anything of it. People were having too much fun watching and singing along. This was the best Bane set that I've seen in a long time from one of the most important hardcore bands out there today.
